Quick report as it was a quick game!
With a couple of players struggling with the trains we entered into a gentleman’s agreement with the oppo for Concorde to bat first.
The pitch had a bit in it for the bowlers, although the top order, whilst all making a start, managed to conjure up various ways to get themselves out. Justin was unlucky as not sure his edge carried to the keeper. However Rob and Nigel gave the innings some respectability with a stand of 54. We ended up all out for 125.
Our opening duo consisted of myself and Luke Cotterill who hadn’t bowled for a while and produced some good balls in his spell. At the other end I was getting spanked so decided that some craftier bowling was required. Jerry took a wicket with his first ball and bowled a tight spell, supported by Ian and Kevin (guest player from Woking and Horsell). Jerry took a further 2 wickets but we just didn’t have enough runs and a classy John Hagan killed our hopes by playing cover drives with wanton abandon.
