Members may recall the happy evening in the bar when IRNC thought he had finally won the argument to replace the ancient Panasonic vacuum cleaner with a “Henry”. So some time, he had been lobbying anyone could give a toss that we should get a new vac. Oblivious to the frequent suggestions that the Panny might work better if he emptied the bag which had just passed its tenth birthday at the time, Ian continued his campaign until finally a new old cleaner was acquired and it was named “Ian” as a tribute to our esteemed cleaner and janitor. You will see in the picture that Ian was put to good use after a series of instruction videos had been made available.
Unhappily, peace did not last for long as the Ian also had a need to have its bag replaced and without that little bit of maintenance, the poor Ian got severely rubbished in a referendum in the bar one night last season. So grave was the issue that it was raised at the 2016 AGM, and after much heated discussion, the full weight of the membership came down in favour of securing a Henry. The shiny new sucker has now appeared and the old Panny and Ian have found their way to the recycling centre. There will be a baptism of the new beast as soon as IRNC has learned how to use it.
His first lesson from the Chairman was after the Harpsden game. Apparently, he got a “Most Improved Sweeper” mark which validates him to sweep up for the next five games when he can qualify for his “Master Sucker”.
