Lords Test
Concorde members, Nick Wright and Alex Cudworth were selected to play for the Kenya Kongonis in their biannual match at Lords on Tuesday 29th September. The match was against the Cross Arrows, an Invitation side made up of Lords Club & Ground and friends and includes top club players, a number of county 2nd XI players and the occasional ex-international.
This year the Kongonis won by 4 wickets, scoring the 238 required with some ease. Alex bowled a testing opening spell and had the satisfaction of uprooting the opening batsman's off stump with a cunning slower ball. Nick fielded well and took a fine catch at mid off. Neither had much opportunity to show what they could do with the bat.

Anning Anxiety Over
Mike Anning who joined us this year and has performed well in the field, bowled usefully but failed to trouble the scorer so far. While still in line for a possible Mallard on debut season, he has finally got rid of the curse and scored his highest for the season in the lost cause against Kensington and Chelsea.
Presidents Day
A good time was had by all. See report and mini-movie.
Farewell
After the Millfield's fixture, our Hon Sec, Steve Reece dropped into the clubhouse to say "goodbye". Steve and family are moving back "up North" to get away from high prices and the stresses of the South. Steve hopes to be playing in a local team with his various in-laws (not sure that is a good idea) and maybe we will tour and play a fixture there. Meanwhile, we wish the "Reeces" all the very best.
Oh, and now we need a new Hon Sec.
Website
The major project to re-structure the entire Concorde website, started over a year ago, is now virtually complete. All the history and reports going back to 2000 have now been updated in the new style and the old and new sections fully interlinked. Also opportunity has been taken to rationalize the picture and video archives which, along with prior season reports, can be accessed from the Archives/Archive Index menu item. More work will be done to clear some remaining links and issues with browser compatibility, and any specific problems should be sent to the webmaster.
New Delivery
Congratulations to Ashley and Kate Westen on the birth of their daughter. No name yet but already down to do the tea at the first fixture in 2020! What vision!

New Season, New Nets
An impressive working party over Easter at Send to construct the new net installation provided for the ground by Michael Cowan. Despite the pouring rain and the Chairman taking control of the instruction book, the complex structure was erected in record time (compared with that apparently achieved at some other local clubs). All that is needed now is a little practice to make sure the nets do their job. The structure can be moved from the all -weather surface to the practice grass wicket as required.
Ron Dunn RIP
It is very sad to report the death of our Life Vice President Ron Dunn.
Ron, who has been involved with the club for over 35 years, died last December at St. Peters Hospital. The Club sends its best wishes and condolences to Joy and family, and sent the tribute shown below in the form of a bat and ball in the club colours.
